Year 2 Word Problems Unit

Teach students to make sense of a word problem before choosing a calculation. This complete Year 2 unit develops understanding of join, separate, compare and part-part-whole situations, including problems with the unknown in different positions and practical money contexts.

The editable presentation introduces a clear Read, Plan, Solve, Check routine and models how to represent each story with a number sentence, drawing or part-part-whole model. Colour displays, sorting cards, hands-on mats and two games provide supported whole-class and partner practice.
