Build and Connect Multiplication Facts - Year 3
Support increasingly ready recall and useful connections across four multiplication tables. Students build equal groups, use twos and tens to derive facts, connect multiplication and division, and evaluate valid or repaired claims. The package provides a teacher Quick Start, complete five-lesson sequence, colour references and practical kits, low-ink practice, faithful answer/example pages, observation and conference records, three fresh whole assessment sets and a blank analytic rubric.
What's included
Presentation: Build and Connect Multiplication Facts — 35 editable slides.

Learning focus
Year 3 Mathematics: multiplication facts for 3, 4, 5 and 10, related division, useful known facts, equal-group/array models, context units and mathematical checks. Core practice uses multipliers 0–10. Optional multipliers 11 and 12 extend these same four tables; this pack does not teach separate eleven/twelve tables. Complete 0–12 reference charts are a resource-design choice, not an official curriculum limit. Squares use two different multiplication/division facts. Zero may be divided by a positive number; division by zero is undefined.
Formal sets are fresh as complete combinations of tasks, order, unknowns, derivation and contexts. Learned numeric facts can also appear in the reference charts and practice. No claim is made that every assessed numeric fact is unseen.
Classroom use
Teach a coherent week through five planned 45-minute lessons: equal groups across four fact sets; deriving threes/fours; connecting fives/tens and division; recalling/matching/checking; fresh individual facts and connections. Choose useful practice rather than assigning every page. Assessment is untimed; remaining tasks can be completed in a later individual check.
Use the printed kits or teacher-prepared digital placement. In PowerPoint Edit View, copy and move whole tiles or grouped cards from teaching slides 24–34. Slide Show displays the prepared material. Digital dragging during Slide Show is not an included feature. No macros, timer, online account or extra learning app is required. Open the decks with compatible presentation software and the PDFs with a PDF reader.
The printed Tile Lab provides 120 single tiles and three 40-slot mats. Use one, two or three mats as needed; nine or ten groups and optional twelve-group cases require the third mat. Reset all tiles between cases. The fact-family kit provides eight seeds and eight claims in two rounds of four cases, with one four-slot mat; stack a matched claim on its seed and reset between rounds. Adults can prepare cutting. Students may speak, point, direct placement, use a device or have an adult record their response.
Collect the first individual mixed sample with charts and answers hidden. Then gather derivation and context evidence. Record access separately from mathematical hints, and distinguish recalled, derived, modelled and looked-up methods. Use the quiz after the first formal sample; question ten is optional.
Assessment
three fresh whole task sets for mixed facts/division, known-fact derivation, and contexts/squares/zero.
Rubric: four analytic criteria, with blank ratings and evidence.
Nineteen answer/example pages sit immediately after their matching student pages. Open responses show one valid example; correct alternatives are welcome. Deliberately wrong claims remain visible alongside their red repairs.
