Stories Across Places and Times - Year 3

In teaching order, this unit provides a three-page preparation guide; a colour two-story display; worked author, narrator and setting panels; a source-linked evidence organiser; three low-ink practice sheets with adjacent red answer pages; twelve colour evidence comparison cards with rules and teacher check key; two rehearsal sheets with adjacent answer pages; an independent comparative response assessment with marking example; and a four-criterion learning evidence rubric.

Learners cite one actual detail from each work, explain an opportunity or constraint shaping a character choice, and make one cautious inference. The five lessons move from modelling to guided discrimination, partner discussion, transfer and independent evidence. Support uses rereading and a partly completed organiser; the core task requires precise evidence; extension invites a supported counter-reading without adding a new learning requirement.

Both books are required as teacher-supplied lawful classroom copies and are not included. No book text, book art or physical product is supplied. The teacher checks students' selected details in the copies. A different defensible interpretation may meet the marking criteria.
