Multisyllabic Words Year 4
Multisyllabic Words Year 4 gives students a clear, repeatable toolkit for solving longer words.
This one-week English unit explicitly teaches students to listen for syllables, mark vowel sounds, recognise six useful syllable types, identify prefixes, base words and suffixes, split words into readable chunks, blend them smoothly and apply a Say–Segment–Mark–Write–Check spelling routine.
The editable presentation supports whole-class modelling and guided practice. Colour displays, strategy stations and two games reinforce the routines through talk and movement. Core and extension worksheets provide structured practice, while a two-part assessment, matching answer pages and five-level rubric support reliable marking and feedback. All student resources use Australian English and age-appropriate Year 4 examples.
