Fabulous Fractions — Year 3 Mathematics Unit
Give Year 3 students a connected introduction to fractions with a complete unit designed for explicit teaching, guided practice, collaborative learning, independent consolidation and assessment. Fabulous Fractions builds meaning from fair sharing and equal parts before linking fraction symbols to words, area models, bar models, collections and number lines.
The editable presentation introduces the numerator and denominator, unit fractions and multiples, fractional intervals from 0 to 1, simple equivalence and making one whole. Students apply these ideas through colourful classroom displays, a matching game, a fruit-café activity and a sequenced set of printable worksheets. The editable quiz, two-page assessment, answer pages and marking rubric provide clear evidence of understanding.
