Year 6 Predicting Comprehension Unit builds confident, flexible readers through an explicit sequence for making, justifying and revising evidence-based predictions.
Students learn to notice useful clues, explain what those clues suggest, form a plausible prediction, test it against new information and revise when the evidence changes. They explore dialogue, setting, tone, word choice, foreshadowing, structure, character motivation, perspective, visuals and author intent across literary, informative, persuasive and visual texts.
The unit is designed for approximately five lessons, with differentiated practice and extension material to support flexible pacing. Modelled examples lead into scaffolded worksheets, partner games, an eight-section predictive-language spinner and a two-part assessment.
