Year 6 Author's Style Unit
Help Year 6 students move from noticing an author's choices to explaining how those choices shape meaning, mood and reader response. This unit explores word choice, sentence structure, punctuation, imagery, tone, voice, point of view, characterisation, visual features and text structures through explicit teaching, discussion, games, close reading and evidence-based writing.
The resource combines editable PowerPoint teaching and quiz decks with colour classroom materials, black-and-white worksheets, matching answers, a two-page assessment, suggested assessment answers and a marking rubric. The sequence is suitable for approximately one week of whole-class lessons and can also support literacy rotations, small groups or independent practice.
