Year 4 Decimal Place Value Unit

Teach decimal place value to hundredths through a connected week of explicit instruction, hands-on modelling, collaborative games, independent practice and assessment.

Students learn to represent tenths and hundredths with models and place-value charts, connect fractions with denominators of 10 and 100 to decimal notation, identify the value of each digit, compare and order decimals, and explain how division by 10 and 100 changes place value.
