Year 3 Adverbs Unit of Work
Teach adverbs through a structured week of explicit instruction, oral rehearsal, hands-on classification, sentence work, reading response and assessment. This Year 3 English unit helps students recognise how adverbs add detail to verbs, adjectives and other adverbs; classify adverbs by manner, time, place, frequency and degree; form common adverbs; move them within sentences; and choose vocabulary that makes meaning more precise.
The editable presentation introduces each concept with fresh examples. Adverb Action Charades builds oral language and vocabulary through movement, while Adverb Detectives develops close sentence reading and classification. The worksheet sequence progresses from identification and contextual choice to word formation, sentence rewriting and adverb position. A short reading passage, two-page assessment and five-level rubric support application and review.
Colour display, reference and activity pages are ready for shared use. Worksheets, assessment pages and the rubric use a clean black-and-white format for printing. Nine matching answer pages show red answers directly in the student response spaces.
