Why Readers Respond Differently - Year 6
Table of contents: five-lesson teacher guide; evidence display; four source-linked organisers; three progressive practice worksheets with adjacent marking pages; a three-page literature-circle activity; two fresh transfer worksheets with adjacent marking pages; independent assessment and marking page; learning evidence rubric; 18-slide teaching presentation; and a 26-slide question-and-explanation quiz.
Students revisit a lawful classroom copy of Bindi by Kirli Saunders, illustrated by Dub Leffler. They identify a real passage or illustration detail, explain their own response, distinguish observation from inference, and consider another fair response supported by evidence. The sequence moves from modelling and guided decisions to respectful discussion, rehearsal and independent assessment. It does not prescribe one emotion or ask students to disclose private experience.
What's included
24-page Unit Plan PDF, 18-slide editable PowerPoint presentation, 26-slide editable PowerPoint quiz, and combined watermarked Preview PDF. The six answer/marking pages sit beside their corresponding student sheets in the Unit Plan.
Learning focus
personal response → genuine detail → reason; fair alternative interpretation.
Classroom use
five 45–60-minute lessons after prior whole-book reading. Teacher checks student-chosen evidence in a lawful copy. Support includes read-aloud and oral/drawn response; core requires precise evidence; extension tests a counter-reading. Preview fire themes sensitively and provide an appropriate alternative response route.
Digital product and licence
Digital resources only; no physical item. Bindi is not included. Use the purchased files according to the applicable store licence and provide the named book through lawful classroom access.
Formats and answers
PDF and PPTX digital files; 24 Unit Plan pages, 18 presentation slides, 26 quiz slides; six adjacent open marking/answer pages. Combined Preview has 68 pages/slides.
