Visualising Reading Unit – Year 5

Teach visualising as a purposeful reading-comprehension strategy with a complete week of explicit teaching, discussion, collaborative learning, differentiated practice and assessment. Students learn to notice precise descriptive language, add sensory detail only when the text supports it, connect relevant prior knowledge, revise an image when new information appears, and explain how their mental image strengthens inference and understanding.
