Build confident early sentence writers with a clear sequence of explicit teaching, visual references, hands-on activities, a classroom game, written practice and assessment.

Students learn that a simple sentence communicates one complete idea and contains a subject and a verb. They practise using capital letters, spaces, sensible word order and suitable end punctuation, then apply these conventions as they unscramble, expand, write and edit their own sentences. A picture-writing task and Tiny Talk planner support students to move from oral rehearsal to written and spoken composition.

The unit includes a native editable teaching presentation and a 10-question editable quiz, together with colour classroom materials and low-ink black-and-white worksheets. Meaningful practice and assessment pages have matching red answers or suggested answers. The final five-level rubric supports consistent teacher judgement across ideas, sentence construction, conventions, oral organisation and independence.
