Same Coin, Different Results — Year 3 Chance Unit
Repeated fair coin experiments can produce different short-run totals. This unit helps Year 3 learners name heads and tails as possible outcomes, distinguish a prediction from an observed record, tally every toss, repeat a 20-trial procedure under the same conditions, and compare the evidence without claiming that fair means exactly ten of each.

Learning focus
possible H/T outcomes, one toss as one trial, honest tallying, same-conditions repeats, comparing observed counts, and careful conclusions about variation.
Classroom use
Five 45–60-minute lessons. Prepare fair coins, trays, pencils and the recording pages. Use labelled fictional examples for modelling; learners keep their own real results. The quiz supports, rather than replaces, the hands-on assessment.
