Retell Comprehension Foundation Unit
Help Foundation students retell familiar stories clearly and in order with a structured, classroom-ready English unit. The sequence explicitly teaches setting, characters, problem, key events, solution, beginning-middle-end structure and the time words first, next, then and finally.
The original Pip and the Windy Hat story anchors whole-class teaching and guided practice. Students build oral and visual comprehension through colourful displays, sequence cards, stick puppets, a scene mat and two reusable games before recording their thinking in six complementary worksheets. The separate Rainy-Day Rescue task checks whether students can transfer their retelling skills to a new story.
