Reading Repair Workshop - Foundation
Reading Repair Workshop supports Foundation learners to notice when print or meaning does not fit, return to the complete printed word and choose a safe next action. Across five sequenced lessons, children check every grapheme, blend the word, reread the phrase or sentence, and ask for help when a spelling has not yet been taught.
The unit progresses from teacher modelling and two complete controlled texts to authentic classroom messages, guided decisions, independent transfer, a purposeful partner activity, rehearsal and an individual fresh-text assessment. Pictures can confirm meaning after reading; they are not used to identify an unknown printed word.
