Something Easier

There isn’t a close match for the year below yet.

Teach children to read the words, look closely, point to a clue and explain using both. Original school-arrival, stage, building, library and garden scenes make the routine concrete. Learners compare settings and weather, distinguish what they can see from a possible idea, explain actions and reactions, and use a sequence or labelled factual picture to find information left out of a short caption.

Five full lesson plans include goals, resources, timed modelling, guided and independent tasks, support, extension, marking examples and teaching next steps. Captions and prompts can be read aloud. Children can speak, point, draw a clue or have an adult record their own words. Fresh narrative and factual assessments focus on evidence and meaning rather than spelling, handwriting, drawing polish or reading speed.
