Questioning Comprehension — Year 1
Questioning Comprehension — Year 1 gives teachers a clear week-long sequence for turning children's natural curiosity into purposeful reading comprehension. The editable presentation models when and how to ask questions, introduces who, what, when, where, why and how, and distinguishes answers found directly in a text from answers built with clues and prior knowledge.
Children then practise through displays, differentiated worksheets, card sorts, a headband game, a board game, fiction and non-fiction scoot tasks, exit slips and a two-part assessment. The unit includes substantial supported and independent practice, with generous response space and classroom-ready visual scaffolds. Printable worksheets and assessments are black and white; displays, games and activities are in colour; matching teacher answer pages use red responses for fast checking.
