Procedural Texts Foundation Unit

Help Foundation students understand how procedural texts work and give them confidence to create their own. This structured unit begins with the purpose of a procedure, then explicitly teaches titles, materials, ordered method steps, action verbs and time words. Picture cards, a recording mat and the Build a Procedure game make sequencing concrete before students move into supported, core and extension writing tasks.

The sequence supports oral rehearsal, shared composition, independent writing and shared editing across approximately one school week.
