Predicting Reading Strategy – Year 5 is a complete English unit for making, justifying and revising evidence-based reading predictions.
Students learn to preview titles, images, headings, captions and structure; distinguish literal clues from inferred clues; combine evidence with relevant prior knowledge; pause at useful points; and explain why a prediction is plausible. They then confirm, sharpen or contradict their thinking when new information appears.
Fiction and non-fiction tasks support transfer across text types. Picture Clue Lab gives students visual evidence to discuss, while Prediction Paths turns repeated reasoning practice into a collaborative board game.
