Picture Data Studio - Foundation

Picture Data Studio helps Foundation students show the same information with objects, pictures and symbols. Students build small toy collections, match one picture or symbol to each object, choose and explain a key, check mismatches, and make a message another reader can understand.

The unit includes ten planned 50-minute lessons. Lessons 1-8 complete the core teaching and individual assessment. Lessons 9-10 offer optional transfer through weather symbols and a new reader. Students also use a school-approved digital tool for a purpose and recognise examples of data that would belong to them, without supplying actual personal photos or recordings.

Students can build, draw, point, tell or use communication support while demonstrating the same concept. The teacher guide separates purposeful digital action from paper evidence and explains how to record missing device provision. Open tasks accept clear supported alternatives, with POSSIBLE ANSWERS companions.
