Part-Part Whole – Year 2
Part-Part Whole gives teachers a structured week of Year 2 mathematics learning that progresses from concrete part-and-whole relationships to flexible mental computation. Students identify and model two parts of a whole, recombine parts, generate fact families, find missing parts, partition one whole in different ways, build number bonds to 20, bridge to ten, split tens and ones, and explain their reasoning.
The editable 18-slide presentation provides explicit teaching, worked examples and guided practice for whole-class lessons. A separate editable 22-slide quiz includes 10 question-and-answer pairs using multiple-choice, true-or-false, short-answer and explanation formats. The 39-page unit plan combines colour displays, cards, mats and games with black-and-white differentiated worksheets, a two-page assessment, 12 matching red-answer pages and a five-level marking rubric.
The unit is written in Australian English for approximately five lessons, with support, core, challenge and extension opportunities across the teaching sequence.
