Odd and Even Numbers Year 4 teaches parity through a carefully sequenced week of concrete pairing, last-digit classification, operation patterns, mathematical reasoning and assessment.
Students begin by making pairs and identifying leftovers, then use the ones digit to classify larger whole numbers efficiently. They investigate predictable odd/even patterns in addition, subtraction and multiplication, reason backwards from a result, analyse incorrect claims and communicate conclusions using a rule and evidence.
