Teach odd and even numbers through pairing, final-digit clues, number patterns, operations and purposeful practice. The teaching sequence helps Year 3 students understand why even numbers form complete pairs, why odd numbers leave one unpaired, how the final digit identifies parity, and how odd/even structure appears on a hundreds chart, in skip-counting and in addition and subtraction.
Use the editable presentation for explicit instruction and worked examples, then reinforce learning with a display, sorting materials, an activity mat, a board game and differentiated printable practice. The editable quiz provides immediate whole-class review, while the investigation and rubric support assessment and feedback. Matching answer pages make preparation and marking straightforward.
