Money Coins – Year 1

Money Coins – Year 1 provides a structured week of teaching and practice with Australia's 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins. Students learn to read denomination values, understand that physical size does not determine worth, compare and order coins, total collections, continue skip-counting patterns, make equivalent amounts and model simple classroom shop transactions.

The unit combines explicit instruction, guided discussion, printable practice, hands-on sorting, two levels of matching game, an editable ten-question quiz and a two-page assessment. Native PowerPoint text makes the presentation and quiz easy for a teacher to adapt. Black-and-white worksheet and assessment pages are economical to print, while displays, reference cards and hands-on resources are in colour.
