Build confident young readers and storytellers with a flexible Julia Donaldson author study for Foundation–Year 2. Students explore how engaging picture books use memorable characters, clear settings, problems and solutions, sequence, rhyme, repetition and surprising helpers.

The unit supports whole-class teaching, small-group discussion and independent response. It includes differentiated Foundation and Years 1–2 book-response pages, hands-on sorting and story-building activities, reading records, character and structure investigations, rhyme practice, comparison, an original narrative task, assessment, matching answers and a five-level rubric. Teachers can use the resources with a selection of Julia Donaldson books already available in the classroom or library; books are not included.
