Give students a clear purpose and a real need to explain. The fictional Discovery Trail supplies complete group, station, route and timetable facts for shared teaching. Students compare a developed explanation with an unhelpful one, organise precise details and use an audience-friendly technical definition. A small recommendation must be supported by a supplied fact.

Students create three linked panels and explain how a map, timetable and concise reminders help listeners. They experiment with pitch, tone, pace and volume, set a precise goal, rehearse twice and make a visible revision. The fresh Mini Maker Trail assessment uses different names, numbers and times, so students must compose their own explanation rather than copy a teaching model.

  • Editable 33-slide presentation PowerPoint, including three editable starter panels inside the teaching deck.
  • Editable 22-slide quiz PowerPoint, containing ten taught questions with an immediately following answer for each.

Learning focus

Logical informative sequence; precise details; technical vocabulary explained for listeners; a recommendation supported by a fact; deliberate visual and digital features; purposeful pitch, tone, pace and volume; goal setting, two rehearsals, feedback, revision and individual delivery.

Classroom use

Use across five 55-minute lessons. Print the low-ink practice/assessment pages and colour practical kits; project the teaching deck. Students need pencils and paper, with optional school-approved offline presentation software. Schedule about twelve 90-second talks in lesson 4 and eighteen in lesson 5 for a class of thirty. Allow another observation window for larger classes, longer talks or access time.

Read facts aloud or enlarge them; offer sentence starts, paired rehearsal, seated or small-audience delivery and communication support. Preserve the student's own composition and choices. Record the actual screen, paper or supported delivery mode. A paper storyboard shows planning; it does not establish digital delivery. The teacher may operate projected native panels according to the individual student's choices when gathering digital evidence.

Teacher benefits

Clear shared facts and complete models reduce preparation. Three practice levels provide useful support and challenge. All practical cards/panels and answer keys are supplied. The independent fact pack tests transfer. Observation pages distinguish planning evidence from actual presentation/digital evidence. Confidence, eye contact, accent and posture are not attainment criteria.

Digital product and licence

Digital teaching resource; no physical product. Fictional event names and data are classroom examples. For the purchaser's own teaching use. Do not resell, redistribute or publicly share the files. Use school-approved presentation software and suitable individual access arrangements.
