Children imagine original places or creatures, compare colour and material trials, explore flat shapes and solid forms, and explain how their choices help communicate an idea. A 60-minute lesson sequence keeps purposeful making central, with around 30 minutes for practical art work.
Essential assessment is complete by Lesson 8. Children use an original flat or three-dimensional artwork, sketches and trials to explain an idea and at least two connected choices. Optional Lessons 9–10 extend familiar processes and share completed work; they contain no essential new assessment.
