Fables Unit – Year 4

Teach the structure, purpose and craft of fables through a coherent Year 4 sequence. Students identify common fable features, infer and justify morals, compare storylines and relationships across contexts, track how choices create consequences, explore perspective and apply precise language when creating their own literary texts.

The unit includes explicit teaching, modelled analysis, original reading passages, differentiated opportunities for discussion and response, collaborative games, planning and drafting support, and a final original-fable assessment. Colour displays and activities work well for whole-class, partner and small-group instruction. Classroom Use

Suggested duration is five to eight lessons across one to two weeks.
