Digraphs Roll and Spin Phonics Board Game QLD Font

A fun and engaging board game designed to develop emerging phonics skills in QLD font.

Students take turns to roll a die, spin a digraph (2 letters representing 1 sound) and try to make a word. If they can make a word they stay on their space, if they cannot make a word then they go back to their previous space.

This game has a low barrier to entry due to the simple CVC+ words and initial code knowledge making it accessible to a wide range of children.

This board game is suitable for Foundation students starting their first year of primary school and Year 1 + students who need additional retrieval practice as well as those with special needs. It is a great literacy circle activity as well as a simple no prep game to use out of school as homework.

Consonant digraphs should be taught after initial, medial and final sounds have been mastered. Students can then progress through to vowel digraphs and the remaining sound and letter representations of the 44 phonemes of the English language.
