Digital Helpers and My Information — Foundation
Introduce the physical parts and programs that work together in a digital system. Students choose a tool for a classroom purpose, make a useful object picture or message, check it with an audience and explain a change. Character cards help children recognise personal information and its owner. Photo and voice cards develop the idea of personal ownership without asking students to disclose their data.
Each of the ten lessons has its own editable PowerPoint. The Unit Plan brings together the teaching sequence, preparation, access choices, printable activities, answers and practical assessment. Eight core lessons complete the essential learning; lessons nine and ten are optional extensions.

Learning focus
- Recognise that a digital system combines physical hardware and software for a purpose.
- Explore approved picture, drawing and audio tools with an adult.
- Choose and test an object message for an audience.
- Identify personal information and whose information it is.
- Explain ownership of their own information without sharing real personal details.
- Use an individual practical task and separate evidence for each assessment criterion.
Access and differentiation
Eight core lessons of approximately 50 minutes complete the essential teaching and individual assessment. Two optional 50-minute lessons extend completed learning. Use one or more sessions per week to suit your class; the unit is not tied to a calendar term.
Provide a school-approved shared tablet or computer with drawing, camera/photo and audio software, plus a teacher-managed account/device and local class storage. An offline route is possible. Prepare approved teacher-created character clips or non-identifying object sounds; audio recordings are not supplied in this download. No student consumer account, public posting or subscription is required.
Students make an object picture or short object message, explain its purpose, identify physical hardware and software, test it with an audience and describe a useful change. Character cards and my-photo/my-voice cards support personal-information teaching without asking children to disclose their real data.
Teachers read prompts aloud. Students may point, draw, use symbols, speak, demonstrate or use an adult-supported action. Record each student's actual use of a digital system. Worksheets and the quiz support learning but do not replace individual practical observation. Where device access is missing, arrange a later authentic observation rather than treat missing access as low attainment.
Formats and answers
Teaching content: 43 Unit Plan PDF pages + 110 lesson slides + 24 quiz slides = 177 pages/slides.
The 177-page Preview repeats that teaching content; it is not counted as additional teaching material.
The delivery contains 11 editable PPTX files, two PDFs, three listing-copy TXT files and one Table of Contents JPG (17 files).
All student worksheets and their paired answer pages are inside the Unit Plan PDF. Answers are red and labelled as answers or possible answers; open-response answers are examples, with alternative accurate responses accepted. Case-card guidance, quiz feedback and the assessment rubric are included.
An application that opens PowerPoint PPTX files and a PDF reader are needed. The printable student pages are not editable text documents.
Teacher benefits
The matched teacher plans and independent lesson files make the sequence easy to follow. Red worksheet answers, a case-card key and quiz feedback support discussion and checking. The evidence record and criterion rubric distinguish observed understanding from a missing device opportunity. Access guidance includes adult reading, pointing, symbols, drawing and supported practical actions.
