Dazzling Directions – Year 1

Dazzling Directions – Year 1 takes students from everyday position words to confident use of movement, turns and ordered routes. The sequence begins with above, below, next to, between, inside and outside, then introduces forward and backward, left and right, clockwise and anticlockwise, half turns and full turns. Students apply the language to robot instructions, neighbourhood maps and differentiated dot-grid pathways.

The unit is designed for a well-rounded school week. An editable 18-slide presentation supports explicit teaching and guided movement practice. The Human Robot Direction Cards and Treasure Trail game provide active rehearsal, while five worksheet resources offer drawing, tracing, map-reading, route-writing and support/core pathway practice. A ten-question editable quiz, two-page Garden Rescue assessment, 11 matching red answer pages and five-level rubric provide clear evidence of progress.

Colour is reserved for the display, cards and game. Worksheets, assessment pages and rubric use clean black-and-white print layouts, with answers placed in red on pages that match the student versions.
