Creating Digital Texts - Foundation
Teach Foundation students the practical skills they need to create a simple digital text. This complete Digital Technologies unit introduces words and pictures on a device, common digital tools, keyboard controls, page navigation, object selection and basic editing.
Students learn to use letter keys, the space bar, backspace, enter and arrow keys. They practise typing a short sentence, scrolling to find content, selecting an object, dragging and resizing a picture, choosing a menu option, undoing a change, and saving and reopening their work.
The editable presentation provides clear whole-class modelling. A colourful toolkit poster, keyboard reference card, sorting game, digital action cards and story prompts make the skills concrete. Five print-friendly worksheets include matching red answer pages. The sequence concludes with a two-page mini digital story assessment and a five-level rubric.
