Craft, Test and Refine a Literary Voice – Year 6 English Unit
Students compare two original approaches to a responsibility story, identify how voice and structure affect readers, plan an original text and test their choices through specific peer feedback. The five-lesson sequence ends with a complete story or verse narrative, one documented material revision and a commentary that cites exact language and structural choices.
Start with the Table of Contents and original mentor story. Use the colour reader-effect display to model intention, evidence, reader response and revision. Guided, mixed and transfer sheets build decisions before students use a 12-card feedback studio, cooperative pathway and partner record mat. A fresh library-key rehearsal prepares students for an independent three-part writing assessment. Red teacher examples follow matching student sheets; the four-criterion rubric records evidence and a next teaching step.
