Compass Directions gives Year 4 students a practical pathway from the eight compass points to accurate grid-map navigation. The sequence teaches cardinal and intercardinal directions, relative position, letter-first and number-second grid references, north-arrow orientation, multi-step routes, distance, legends and scale.
The 18-slide editable presentation supports explicit teaching and worked examples. Direction Dash and Route Maker Partner Challenge add movement, discussion and collaborative problem-solving. Five worksheet sets provide scaffolded practice with compass roses, relative position, festival grid references, rotated maps and original neighbourhood-map design. A two-page wildlife ranger assessment and aligned rubric support evidence collection and marking.
Colour is used for the presentation, quiz, display, reference cards, game and hands-on activity materials. Worksheets, assessment and rubric are black and white for printing.
