Make the connection between counting groups and counting objects visible. Collection Builders begins with equal and unequal groups, then develops counting in twos, fives and tens. Students include leftover singles, regroup the same set without changing its total and explain how they checked. Complete collection diagrams and the shared 120-piece game set support the full learning range.

Learning focus
Students check that groups contain the same number of objects, count each complete group once in twos, fives or tens, count leftover singles once, and explain the total. They work with actual pictured and hands-on collections through 120, compare different groupings of the same collection, and check counting errors.
Classroom use
Teach the five 45-minute lessons in sequence or use the appropriate practice and game tasks with guided groups. The plans cover Equal groups count objects; Fives and leftover singles; Tens and the full collection; Choose, build and check; and Show and explain my total. Each includes materials, timed teaching steps, differentiation, feedback and evidence to observe. Practical observations of larger collections are spread across lessons 3–5. Keep answer pages and checking guides for teacher/checker use.
