Character, Setting and Plot – Year 4
Help Year 4 students understand how character, setting and plot work together to make narratives engaging. The explicit teaching sequence develops character inference, sensory setting and mood, plot stages, cause and effect, and tension. Students then apply those ideas while planning and drafting an original scene.
The printable resources balance a colour classroom display and hands-on materials with low-ink practice pages. Every worksheet has an immediately following red-answer teacher key. The assessment combines close reading with narrative writing and is supported by a complete model-answer page and five-level rubric.
