Blending Blitz Year 1 Phonics Unit

A complete Year 1 phonics unit for teaching blending, common vowel spellings, digraphs and phoneme manipulation through explicit lessons, printable practice, games and assessment.

Blending Blitz helps students move from supported sound-by-sound blending to more independent word reading and spelling. The teaching sequence develops left-to-right blending, sound-button use, consonant blends, common digraphs and vowel spellings, familiar two-syllable words, and oral phoneme addition, deletion and substitution.
