A Conversation Between Readers — Year 6 Unit of Work
Build a conversation between readers that begins with the actual work. This unit teaches students to compare responses to actions involving animals, place and responsibility, support each interpretation with a checked detail, acknowledge a fair alternative and state the limits of a comparison. It uses Bindi by Kirli Saunders and The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter as the fixed pair. Storm Boy by Colin Thiele is an optional Australian comparison after lawful prior reading.

25-page Unit Plan PDF with a three-page teacher guide, colour model display and four worked-example pages, three evidence grids with matching answer pages, three colour partner conversation card pages, two comparative rehearsal sheets with answers, one independent assessment with marking guidance, and a four-criterion rubric. Also includes an editable 18-slide teaching presentation, editable 26-slide question-and-answer quiz, and watermarked Preview PDF.
