Year 4 Surveys and Statistical Investigations Unit
Build confident statistical thinkers with a coherent Year 4 unit that takes students through the complete investigation cycle. Students plan focused and fair survey questions, select participants and collection methods, collect categorical data, record tallies and frequencies, choose effective displays, compare distributions and communicate evidence-based conclusions.
The sequence combines explicit teaching with movement, sorting, collaborative discussion and sustained investigation practice. It culminates in a three-page School Celebration Survey Investigation with a five-level, 25-mark rubric.
