Word and Sound Builders - Foundation

Support oral word and sound awareness with explicit teaching, counter work and familiar picture vocabulary. Children hear and count words in sentences, join spoken sounds into words, take words apart and compare sounds by position. Partner listening, a cooperative game and a personal reflection lead into a fresh oral assessment.

The teaching plans show what to model, what children practise and how to observe their first responses. Use repeated observations to select a next teaching step.
