The Gruffalo Book Study Unit
Build a rich week of English learning around The Gruffalo with a differentiated sequence for Foundation to Year 2. Students discuss character actions and change, follow the story journey, identify problems and solutions, infer a story message, track tension and explore descriptive language before planning and writing an original woodland adventure.
The unit moves from oral and visual tasks to increasingly independent reading response and writing. Foundation and Year 1 students receive structured choices, picture cues and sentence-level support. Year 2 students work with evidence, comparison, sensory language and a fuller narrative arc. Colour classroom materials are paired with polished low-ink worksheets, assessment pages and red answer pages.
Book not included: Teachers need their own authorised copy of The Gruffalo for shared reading.
