Sound Change Workshop - Foundation
Teach children to say, change and check a sound. Sound Change Workshop moves through first, middle and last sound substitutions, simple initial addition and removal, and real-word sound chains. The sequence gives teachers exact examples and prompts while keeping the child's first oral response separate from later picture or choice support.

Learning focus
Children listen to familiar spoken words and change one sound to make a real new word. They practise first, middle and last sound substitutions, add or remove a simple initial sound, check what changed and what stayed, and apply the routine in a short sound chain.
The five lessons take about 35–45 minutes each and can be spread across a flexible teaching week. Examples include pin to tin, pin to pan, cap to cat, up and cup, at and hat, and in and pin. Teacher guidance explains consistent picture naming, pure sounds, counters and short spoken vowels.
