Help Year 1 students understand, read and create clear procedural texts. This comprehensive unit introduces the purpose and structure of a procedure, then develops students' use of titles, materials, ordered methods, sequencing words, action verbs, adverbs and supporting pictures.

The learning sequence moves from explicit teaching and teacher modelling into colourful prompt cards, oral-language activities and hands-on games. Students then complete differentiated, picture-supported practice before applying their learning in a two-part Paper Bookmark Procedure assessment.
