Picture and Word Message Makers - Foundation
Picture and Word Message Makers helps Foundation children explore how pictures and words contribute to meaning in informative messages and a short original story. Teachers read the text aloud while children point, talk, draw, use AAC or dictate their explanations.
Five complete lessons move from comparing picture-only, words-only and combined messages to choosing useful pictures, making a message, testing it with a partner and explaining a repair. Children work with pretend classroom messages about book returns, art equipment, a class museum, puzzles and plant care. The three-page story The Surprise Box adds a private guess and a display purpose through its captions.
