Persuasive Texts Year 3

Persuasive Texts Year 3 develops students from recognising how a text influences an audience to independently planning, drafting, editing and publishing a supported argument. The sequence explicitly teaches purpose, audience and position; the structure of openings, reason-and-evidence paragraphs and conclusions; rhetorical questions; emotive language; modality; personal pronouns; facts, opinions and evidence; and TEEL paragraph construction.

The editable 20-slide presentation models each idea with age-appropriate school examples. Three colour hands-on resources let students sort techniques, rehearse oral arguments and sequence a TEEL paragraph. Six worksheet titles provide guided, core and extension practice with generous writing space. Students finish with the three-page A Greener Playground assessment and a five-level marking rubric. A 22-slide editable quiz supplies 10 checks for understanding followed by clear answer and explanation slides.

Classroom Use

Use the presentation for explicit whole-class teaching, place the two displays on a writing wall, rotate the sort, game and TEEL puzzle through small groups, and assign the paired worksheets for supported and independent practice. The Plan, Draft & Edit pages can support a class writing project before students complete the A Greener Playground assessment. Allow approximately 5–8 English lessons.
