Persuasion, Evidence and Bias - Year 6
Five complete 55-minute lessons help Year 6 learners distinguish a stated view from a checkable report, notice indirect judgement, check claims against source records, and revise persuasion fairly for different audiences. Original fictional school scenarios supply consistent survey, budget and space facts.
Includes an 81-page Unit Plan PDF with one teacher quick-start page, ten lesson-plan pages and 69 resource pages; a 27-slide editable teaching presentation; and a 22-slide editable quiz with ten questions and answer explanations. The unit includes three displays, contrasting messages, worked models for both feasible choices, nine Support/Core/Extension practice worksheets across three skill sets, and 16 matching answer pages printed in red immediately after their matching worksheets.
Twelve message-review cards and sixteen Fair Case Circuit challenge cards include full checking banks. The circuit has a 20-space board, four cut-out counters, complete rules and an individual reasoning log. A separate Project Corner scenario provides independent analysis, a 70–100 word committee proposal, a same-option 20–35 word student invitation, teacher models, feedback record, four-criterion rubric and scored example.
Use for explicit modelling, guided discussion, differentiated practice, small-group review and individual assessment. Reading aloud, pointing, typing, dictating or recorded responses can support access while preserving individual reasoning. Teacher models accept either supported feasible choice; speed, confidence and handwriting are not grading criteria.
