Part-Part-Whole to 10 – Year 2
Teach students to see numbers as a whole made from two parts, then use that structure to add, subtract and solve missing-part problems. This Year 2 unit develops understanding through explicit teaching, visual number bonds, hands-on games, differentiated written practice and assessment.
Students identify the whole and both parts, partition numbers to 10 in multiple ways, recognise zero as a valid part, find a whole or missing part and generate the four related addition and subtraction facts for a number bond. Story problems help students choose an operation and explain their reasoning.
The editable presentation and quiz support whole-class instruction and review. Colour display and reference materials provide visual prompts, while the games and print pages work well for guided groups, maths rotations, independent practice, revision and assessment.
