Our Story-Place Gallery - Year 2
Our Story-Place Gallery gives Year 2 students a practical routine for making meaningful story comparisons. Students name the work and creator, identify a setting clue, connect it to a character action, compare two works and explain why their evidence supports the idea.
The sequence moves from explicit modelling to guided comparison, partner curation, a fresh rehearsal and an independent two-text assessment. Support, core and extension routes preserve the same learning target while allowing oral, drawn, written or scribed responses.
The unit is designed for use with teacher-supplied lawful copies of Benny Bungarra's Big Bush Clean-Up by Sally Morgan, illustrated by Ambelin Kwaymullina; Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French with Bruce Whatley; and The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. It does not reproduce book pages or copied commercial artwork.
