Move It! - Foundation Science Movement Unit

$6.99

Move It! helps children notice the part of an object touching a surface and explain movement from real observations. Children predict, test safely, compare a cylinder on its side and end, repeat size comparisons, sort evidence and choose an object for a track. Teacher plans give timings, equipment, questions, support and challenge suggestions. A practical demonstration and short conference gather evidence in several response modes.

What's included

  • Ten separate editable lesson PowerPoint files, 12 slides each (120 lesson slides).
  • One editable 24-slide unit quiz with ten question-and-answer pairs, response guidance, reflection and closing.
  • A 57-page Unit Plan PDF containing teacher preparation, safety and participation guidance, ten complete lesson plans, an eight-session completion route, resources, matched answers and assessment guidance.
  • Two colour displays, eight motion case cards on two pages, and a three-page cooperative Evidence Trail game with eight challenge cards and a teacher response guide.
  • Ten black-and-white worksheets or investigation records, each followed by its matching red answer or sample-response page.
  • A two-page practical Movement Assessment and one specific rubric.
  • A clean Table of Contents JPEG.
  • A complete 201-page Preview PDF showing the Unit Plan, all ten lesson decks and the quiz in order.

Learning focus

Children explore roll, slide and bounce, identify the flat or curved part touching a surface, compare the same cylinder in two orientations, record repeated size comparisons and explain actual observations. Tests keep a low ramp, release point and surface alike, with no extra push. Children compare predictions with results, preserve unexpected outcomes and ask a safe question for a next test. The unit avoids a claim that bigger objects always travel farther.

Classroom use

Whole-class modelling followed by supervised pairs or small-group investigations. Use the displays for vocabulary and evidence language, case cards for discussion, and the cooperative game for review. Collect the worksheets as a portfolio of actual observations. Choose the ten-lesson route or the supplied eight-session integration route.

Teacher benefits

Separate lesson files make the planned sequence easy to locate. Matched record and answer pages help teachers organise evidence. The compact route retains all ten learning contributions. Supported response options allow children to show science reasoning in different ways.
