Middle Vowel Detectives - Foundation

Middle Vowel Detectives is a complete Foundation English unit that teaches learners to discriminate short vowel phonemes in CVC words. Students learn to keep the first and final phonemes steady, change only the middle sound and grapheme, blend the new word, segment it for spelling, and explain their evidence.

The five-lesson progression uses oral comparison, movable graphemes, phoneme boxes, printed word contrasts, partner reasoning and short natural contexts. Support, core and extension routes are built into the teacher guide. The fixed corpus includes mat/met, pin/pen, pat/pit/pot, cut/cot and bag/beg/big/bog/bug.
